The sharing stories section of the website now boasts two very different Peace Corps stories. Check it out by pulling down the Share menu and selecting Stories. To submit your own story, from the same menu choose Share and fill out the form. I’m eager for all sorts of stories–not just from RPCVs but from their parents, children, former students, host-country counterparts, etc. etc. Let’s make the sharing continue! Maybe you attended the anniversary events last weekend in DC and you can sum them up for us?
This past week, KUNM in Albuquerque, New Mexico sneaked in an airing before I could even alert everyone to it. But I know some folks caught it because you’ll hear from one audience member on the Stories page. WRPI, the college station at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York just licensed the documentary from PRX. KWIT in Sioux City, Iowa also recently snatched up the show.
And, apparently my posting about Web Extras never quite made it into cyberspace… but the first web-only feature is now available. It’s a lovely story about a PCV who signed up in her late 40s and went back for another stint four years after her first service. You’ll find that feature, including a recording she made in Jamaica in the 1980s, on the Web Extras page. (Pull down The Radio Documentary tab to find it.)
Two California stations plus ones in Iowa, Alabama and Arizona have requested Peace Corps Voices:
Contact them directly for air dates and times (I’ll post them as/if I get them).
The NPR affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona, KJZZ plans to air Peace Corps Voices on Sunday Oct. 30 at 6 pm. Check with them to confirm the time before you invite all your friends over to listen with you!
So far, about 70 people have listened to Peace Corps Voices in its entirety on the web. In case you missed it, here’s the link to my page on PRX. You have to create an account, but it’s free.
Spread the word! Then, share a story on this site. Let’s get a conversation flowing!
